Normalizing Hypertension - The Ayurveda Way

A vital worldwide public health challenge, which remains to be one of the primary causes of illness and death. Hypertension is directly responsible for 57% of all stroke deaths and 24% of all coronary heart disease (CHD) deaths in India.

When the blood pressure levels rise rapidly, the force of your blood against the arteries is consistently too high. This towering pressure (i.e. Hypertension) is called 'RaktaGata Vata' in Ayurveda.

In these unprecedented times, neglecting our wellbeing will be like adding more to the problem. Let's see why it’s advantageous to take the natural path for 'Normalizing your High Blood Pressure'.

WHAT DO THE NUMBERS MEAN?

Whenever you have seen the Blood Pressure reading, you might have seen 2 numbers. Have you ever wondered about the significance of these numbers? There are two numbers which create this blood pressure reading -

1) Systolic: The first number of the reading, which indicates the pressure in your arteries when your heart beats and pumps out the blood.
2) Diastolic: The other number or the reading of the pressure, when the heart relaxes after contraction.

(A healthy or normal blood pressure reading is 120/80)

TYPES OF HYPERTENSION
Primary or essential hypertension - It has no precise fundamental cause, but resembles to be the outcome of the interaction of complex genetic and environmental factors.
Secondary hypertension - It's caused by a particular underlying mechanism, usually involving kidneys or endocrine system.

The factors that play a role in causing High Blood Pressure:
1) Lack of physical activity
2) Too much salt in the diet
3) Diet with processed food
4) Being overweight or obese
5) Lifestyle habits like Smoking & Alcohol Consumption
6) Stress
7) Old Age
6) Genetics
7) Chronic kidney disease
8) Obstructive sleep apnea

AYURVEDA'S PERSPECTIVE
According to Ayurveda, knowing the characteristics of the disease should be initiated through the Doshas & etiological factors. The Doshas(Vata, Pitta & Kapha) are the biological forces that govern the physical & mental processes of an individual's body.

Toxic/Unhealthy Diet and a Sedentary Lifestyle that's directly affecting the body are the primary causes of Hypertension today. Due to this, too much Vata Dosha is being intensified in the system. This leads to the production of ama (mucus or toxins), blocking the blood circulation in arteries/blood vessels. Pitta & Kapha complement this impact of Vata and support the development of the disease, with blood being the main mediator. This implies Hypertension as the involvement of Tridosha

Due to the mucus being created in the nerves, the blood has to exert more pressure to support the circulation. This way Hypertension is developed as a severe condition.

WHAT AYURVEDA RECOMMENDS
According to Ayurveda, if we use these 6 tools or ways in tackling the High Blood Pressure condition, we can accomplish an effective impact withdrawing the continued usage of those prolonged Hypertension medications (which have side effects).

Diet - What you eat plays a major role in reducing that high blood pressure
Lifestyle - Bringing changes in your lifestyle, like Quitting Smoking & Excessive Alcohol consumption, Increasing Physical activity, Losing weight if you're obese & managing your stress properly
Kitchen Formulas - Your kitchen has immense potential in assisting your wellbeing
Detox Programs - For removing the toxins
Herbal Remedies - Some Herbal extracts like Nir brahmi ghan, Sarpagandha, Arjun ghan etc. are ideal for treating the elevated blood pressure
Removing Ama (Mucus/Toxins) - ama tends to accumulate in the system and blocks the channels of the body, causing a variety of conditions. The above 5 methods combined, helps in the removal of this Ama or mucus incorporated in the system

Dietary Recommendations
A well-balanced diet should have 60% Cooked Vegetables, 30% Proteins & 10% Carbohydrates. Sticking to a consistent diet is the easiest way to reduce that High Blood Pressure; if you incorporate the following changes in your consumption, you'll certainly avoid any further complexities.

1) Avoid Wheat completely (If you're above 35-40)
2) Consume a gluten-free diet
3) Eat more fruits, vegetables, and low-fat dairy foods
4) Eat freshly cooked food, rather than the processed
5) Cut back on foods that are high in saturated fat, cholesterol
6) Focus more on proteins
7) Whole grains like Millet, Quinoa, Spelt, Dinkel should be consumed
8) Stop the Dairy Products & Red Meat consumption
9) For Non-Veg, you can consume Chicken, Fish & Eggs
10) Include Fresh Juices & Soup in your Regime

Now Manage Bunions Naturally with Ayurveda

What Causes Bunions? Bunions typically develop due to a mix of factors rather than a single cause. Key contributors include family history, abnormal bone structure, increased foot motion, and shoe choices. Prolonged pressure on the big toe joint, often from years of wearing poorly fitting shoes or other factors, can push the joint out of alignment and toward the other toes. This misalignment leads to the formation of a bunion on the metatarsophalangeal (MTP) joint as your body adjusts to the shifted position of your toe. Common causes of increased pressure on the big toe joint include: Wearing narrow or pointed shoes that squeeze the toes. Abnormal foot mechanics or walking patterns. Health conditions causing inflammation, such as rheumatoid  arthritis  or lupus. Standing for extended periods or working on your feet. Unsightly and uncomfortable foot issues like athlete's foot and bunions can be a real nuisance. A bunion is a bony growth that occurs at the base of the bi...
